India May Launch Smart Rooftop Solar Monitoring Dashboard to Improve Transparency in 2026
By SolSetu News Desk
India is reviewing a proposal to launch a Smart Rooftop Solar Monitoring Dashboard in 2026, aimed at providing real-time performance insights for millions of rooftop solar consumers across the country. Sources told SolSetu that the new digital dashboard could become the national benchmark for tracking solar output, subsidy status, system health, and net-metering performance.
The dashboard would integrate directly with DISCOM portals and inverter data streams, allowing consumers to track system performance with far greater accuracy than current methods.
What Will the Dashboard Show?
Early prototypes include features such as:
- Live solar generation (kWh) with hourly updates
- Predicted vs. actual generation forecasting
- Net-metering export-import balance
- Subsidy disbursement status
- Inverter performance and fault alerts
- DISCOM communication history
This would be the first nationwide platform designed to unify rooftop solar monitoring across states.
Why It’s Needed Now
With rooftop solar installations growing rapidly under PM Surya Ghar, many consumers still lack clear visibility into system performance and billing accuracy. DISCOMs also face challenges in managing rising net-metering transactions.
The proposed dashboard aims to bring transparency and help consumers verify whether their system is performing as promised.
DISCOM Integration Expected in Phases
According to early planning documents, the rollout may occur in three phases:
- Phase 1 (2026): Maharashtra, Gujarat, Rajasthan
- Phase 2 (2027): Karnataka, Telangana, Delhi
- Phase 3 (2027–28): Nationwide adoption
Each state will link its rooftop solar data to a central MNRE cloud dashboard.
Benefits for Consumers & Installers
Consumers will finally get accurate solar generation visibility without relying solely on inverter apps. Installers can also use the dashboard to track system health and reduce service call frequency.
SolSetu will continue monitoring this development and publish updates as MNRE finalizes the framework.
