India Working on National Solar Repair & Replacement Registry for 2026 to Reduce Fake Warranty Claims
By SolSetu News Desk
The Indian government is preparing a new digital framework called the National Solar Repair & Replacement Registry (SRR-2026), designed to track faulty rooftop solar components such as inverters, panels, batteries, and wiring accessories across the country. Officials involved in the early blueprint confirmed to SolSetu that the registry will help curb fraudulent warranty claims and ensure transparent after-sales service.
With rooftop installations growing rapidly, the number of repair requests and warranty disputes has also increased. The registry will serve as a central platform to monitor component failures, technician activity, and replacement history for each rooftop system.
Why India Needs a Solar Repair & Replacement Registry
Current after-sales service issues include:
- Duplicate or fake warranty claims
- Non-OEM parts installed without disclosure
- Unrecorded inverter swaps
- No tracking of repeated wiring faults
- Ghost service visits logged by contractors
Officials say a national registry will bring accountability and resolve these long-standing consumer challenges.
How SRR-2026 Will Work
The registry may include:
- QR-linked repair logs for each rooftop system
- Technician IDs mapped to every service visit
- Digital proof of component replacement
- OEM verification for part authenticity
- Transparent history of failures and fixes
- Annual reliability scores for installers
All repairs will be visible to DISCOMs and to consumers through a secure dashboard.
Benefits for Consumers
Homeowners will finally gain visibility into:
- The exact parts used during repairs
- Whether replacements are genuine
- Who serviced their rooftop system and when
- Whether installers are meeting warranty obligations
The system is expected to drastically reduce disputes and improve trust in rooftop solar service networks.
Pilot Rollout in Mid-2026
Pilot deployment of SRR-2026 is expected in:
- Maharashtra
- Gujarat
- Rajasthan
- Tamil Nadu
- Delhi
Nationwide expansion may follow later in 2026 after pilot feedback.
SolSetu will continue tracking developments and release updates as the Ministry finalizes registry standards.
