India to Launch National Solar Consumer Helpline Portal for Rooftop Support and Complaint Resolution
By SolSetu News Desk
The Government of India is preparing to launch a dedicated National Solar Consumer Helpline Portal designed to support rooftop solar consumers, address installation-related issues, and streamline complaint resolution. The initiative aims to strengthen consumer confidence as the adoption of residential solar continues to rise across the country.
Growing Consumer Complaints Prompt Action
With increased rooftop installations under the PM Surya Ghar scheme, DISCOMs and state nodal agencies have been flooded with consumer queries related to wiring issues, inverter faults, delayed approvals, and subsidy disbursement delays.
A senior MNRE official told SolSetu, “Consumers often do not know whom to contact. A single national-level portal will bring all stakeholders—DISCOMs, EPC companies, and subsidy programs—under one communication channel.”
What the Solar Consumer Helpline Portal Will Offer
According to early documents reviewed by industry stakeholders, the portal may include:
- 24×7 ticket-based support for rooftop solar issues
- Complaint tracking with expected resolution timelines
- Integration with state DISCOM systems
- Rooftop safety and maintenance guides for consumers
- Online escalation matrix for unresolved cases
The initiative is expected to reduce miscommunication between installers and consumers, ensuring timely responses for technical and administrative queries.
Expected Impact on Rooftop Solar Adoption
Industry experts believe the helpline will give first-time buyers more confidence to invest in rooftop systems by ensuring that post-installation support is reliably available.
It may also reduce the volume of in-person visits to DISCOM offices, freeing up resources and improving operational efficiency.
Rollout Timeline
The portal is expected to go live by mid-2026, with a beta version being tested in selected states early next year.
SolSetu will continue tracking this development and provide updates as soon as the beta testing phase begins.
