India to Launch Rooftop Solar Maintenance Service Registry in 2026 to Improve System Reliability
By SolSetu News Desk
The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) is planning to launch a nationwide Rooftop Solar Maintenance Service Registry in 2026. The registry will list certified maintenance providers and ensure homeowners have reliable, standardized post-installation service options.
The proposal aims to reduce system downtime, prevent performance losses, and increase the long-term reliability of rooftop solar installations across India.
Why a Solar Maintenance Registry Is Needed
As rooftop installations surge under national and state-level schemes, many consumers report difficulty in finding trained technicians for periodic maintenance and breakdown fixes.
A senior MNRE official told SolSetu, “Homeowners often rely on installers who may not offer long-term servicing. The registry will create a structured network of trained and verified maintenance professionals.”
How the Registry Will Work
The proposed registry will include:
- Verified solar maintenance providers with certification
- Service packages for cleaning, inspection, and performance testing
- Ratings based on customer feedback
- Search filters by city, system size, and maintenance type
- Option to book service visits online
Technicians will be required to complete MNRE-approved training programs, ensuring standardization across states.
Impact on Consumers and Installers
Experts say a formal maintenance registry will extend system life, reduce inverter failures, and minimize service-related disputes.
Solar EPC companies believe it will also reduce their post-installation workload, allowing specialized maintenance providers to take over regular servicing.
Rollout Timeline
The registry is expected to launch in phases starting mid-2026, with pilot testing planned in Delhi, Mumbai, and Hyderabad.
SolSetu will continue providing updates as MNRE finalizes the rollout framework.
