India May Launch Blockchain-Based Solar Installer Reputation & Compliance Ledger in 2026 to Improve Transparency

The Government of India is evaluating a new blockchain-backed verification system known as the Solar Installer Reputation & Compliance Ledger (SIRCL-2026), which would create a permanent trust score for rooftop solar installers nationwide. Officials told SolSetu that the system aims to reduce fraud, improve accountability, and help consumers choose reliable installation companies.

With rooftop solar adoption accelerating under national subsidy programs, the need for a transparent installer reputation system has become increasingly important.

Why SIRCL-2026 Is Being Discussed

The rooftop sector continues to face challenges such as:

  • Installers disappearing after installation and ignoring service requests
  • Fake promises of output guarantees not backed by documentation
  • Over-sizing/under-sizing systems to mislead consumers
  • Low-quality components used despite “premium” claims
  • Duplicate invoices and inconsistent warranty papers

SIRCL-2026 would store all installer activity on a tamper-proof digital ledger.

How the Reputation Ledger May Work

The proposed system may include:

  • Blockchain-sealed service records (install date, technician name, quality rating)
  • Customer complaint and resolution history
  • Component authenticity verification integrated with SHAVS-2026
  • Performance monitoring score based on system output
  • Penalty markers for fraudulent behaviour or repeated complaints
  • Public trust score visible to consumers during vendor selection

Experts say blockchain adds credibility because entries cannot be altered or erased.

Benefits for Consumers

  • Transparent reputation score before hiring an installer
  • Proof of service commitments and warranty obligations
  • Lower risk of fraud or poor-quality workmanship
  • Greater confidence in long-term system performance

Benefits for Installers

  • Good performers get higher visibility and trust
  • Reduced disputes due to documented service history
  • Better ranking for government-linked projects
  • Industry-wide standardization of quality

Pilot Rollout Expected in 2026

SIRCL-2026 may first be tested in states with high rooftop density:

  • Gujarat
  • Maharashtra
  • Karnataka
  • Rajasthan
  • Delhi

If successful, it may become part of all subsidy and certification workflows.

SolSetu will continue reporting as SIRCL-2026 enters design and stakeholder review phases.
